Quigley, Rayl Lead Young Lady Tigers

Posted: 27 Aug 2012 12:34 PM PDT

Screen Shot 2012 08 27 at 2 32 58 PMThe Lady Tigers golf team will be much younger than last season, but they do have a returning all-state performer in Allison Quigley.

“She’s qualified for the state tournament all three years that she played,” says Allison’s father and coach Howard Quigley. “She shot a 77 last year, won the districts, then qualified through the sectionals and went on to state.”

Last year was the second season in a row for a Republic golfer to win districts. In 2010, Payton Rayl won it.

Rayl’s younger sister, Baylee, is a junior on this year’s team. Quigley says he expects good things out of her, too.

“She’s played a lot of golf this summer, and is hitting the ball really well right now,” he says. “We look for her to score good for us this year.”

Quigley says Bailey Cornelison is also in line to be one of the key contributors, along with several younger players who he’s counting on to step up.

“We have five freshmen. Most of them have played a little bit of golf, which is a nice start for us,” he says. “We look for them to contribute a little bit as well.
