RVolleyball Republic vs Aurora 27epublic volleyball coach Piper Wright says her players like to set their own goals, and after beating Aurora by 16 points in the first game Monday, they set a goal to match that performance in game two.

The Lady Tigers not only matched it, but improved on it, sweeping the match 25-9 25-8.

“They themselves worked on making the adjustments,” Wright says. “This was one of those games that you love as a coach, because they can kind of coach themselves.”

Brandy Glessner led the Lady Tigers with seven kills.
Sarah Kreul contributed 17 assists.

Wright says it was important for her players not to look past Aurora, with a tough match against Kickapoo coming up Tuesday.

Volleyball Republic vs Aurora 30“We never overlook anybody, and we just have to play our level the whole time,” says Wright. “We’re just trying to work on different things, trying to get as many people in there as possible, and don’t toy with teams.

“I always tell them anybody can beat anybody on any given day. Volleyball is all about momentum. If you come out without that fire, it could be anybody’s ballgame.”

Republic improves to 3-1.

The JV team beat Aurora 25-10, 25-14.
