Coach Piper Wright says her team responded well to a tough loss at Kickapoo Tuesday. “Reeds Spring is a very good team. A good program,” Wright says. “They play very good defense. For a while there, we were kind of struggling to find a spot on the court where they weren’t. “(We) didn’t quite put it together like I wanted to that first game, but came out the second game and got the win.” Lexi Birlew had eight kills for the Lady Tigers, and Sarah Kreul had 25 assists. Defensively, the Lady Tigers were led by Hannah Willis with seven digs and Micah Mansker with three blocks.
Reeds Spring falls to 7-3. Republic improves to 4-2. The Lady Tigers play next in the Springfield Classic Tournament this weekend. – Junior Varsity Scores: 25-8, 25-21 Republic |

Eby reached on an error to start the inning, and took second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, she tried to steal 3rd base. She scored when the throw from the catcher got by the third baseman. Willard loaded the bases in the 6th inning, but Eckhoff got a strikeout to end the threat. In the 7th inning, the game ended when Republic catcher Emily Hall gunned out a runner trying to steal 3rd base.
For Republic, it was their fourth win in a row. They’re 9- – The Republic JV squad won 4-1. They scored all four runs in the first inning. Emily Hall had two RBIs. |

Reeds Spring pushed Republic to the limit in the first game of their volleyball match Thursday, but the second game was a different story as the Lady Tigers pulled away for a 27-25 25-18 victory.
Danielle Curnes had six kills, and Hannah Gertson had 14 assists and nine digs for Reeds Spring.
Caty Eby scrambled home on a wild throw to 3rd base in the bottom of the 5th inning, and that was the only support Stephanie Eckhoff needed as the Lady Tigers beat Willard 1-0 Thursday.
